Hi there! Welcome to the Luke & Ashley blog, a journal about our lives, our beautiful couples, and their stories we get to tell. Stay a while and do say hello if you please!
Hurricane Matthew had just made its way through the day before and a lot of us had woken up to trees down and destruction across our beautiful state. Fortunately, the hurricane did not cause the devastation as it did in our southern states so we were able to recover fairly quickly. On our way to the wedding venue, we, of course, hit the lovely 64 traffic. ( I am seriously over this construction that seems to be lasting 10 years!). Luke decided to take some back roads to get to Seven Springs and I could feel my anxiety levels increasing up because our arrival time was about to be late!
I hate being late. That is to any session or any wedding. Also, when it is an event requires me to be there and I am the person holding them back. It gives me serious anxiety even if I am a couple of minutes late. Luke, on the other hand, is always chill and relaxed and never seems to let it get to him.
Now let’s change the type of event, to say it is a social gathering of some kind.
I hate being early and even on time! I like to show up a little late and I get anxiety if I am the first one there. Luke, on the other hand, HATES to be late to social gatherings and likes to be the first there and last to leave. You can only guess the conversations we have in the car leading up to either of these circumstances!
While we were driving up the road to the venue we came across this sign that said road closed up ahead due to high water. We had already passed several down trees and the roads were getting sketchier and sketchier. Inside I was freaking out. Luke said that we might have to turn around which would be a 30-minute detour! Which definitely would have made us late. However, we kept going and reached the questionable area. Yes, there was water and yes it was questionable. But we plowed right through it anyway. We made it on time to the wedding venue and my anxiety quickly diminished. Crisis diverted!
As we pulled in, the gorgeous autumn colors and cool breeze welcomed us with open arms. The serenity and beautiful views of this venue outside of Richmond VA was a sight to see. This was our first time being at Seven Springs Farm and we already cannot wait to head back!
Magnolia trees filled the outdoor space which surrounded us with all things southern traditions and a relaxing atmosphere.
These two newlyweds are so sweet together. During the first look, we witnessed the most tears of joy that we have ever seen during a first look. His reaction was priceless and you could feel the love and excitement that these two shared. We love when our couples do a first look because it is such an intimate time for the couple before the big moment and so much emotion is released.
The two married in front of a big magnolia tree surrounded by their family and friends. It was an incredibly sweet moment to witness and afterward, it was time to party! The Bachelor Boys band brought the music and their guests brought the fun! The newlywed’s reception was a mix of classic elegance that made their guests feel warm and welcomed.
Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Dirks for giving us the honor of capturing your big day. You two were a dream to work with and we wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness!
