Hi there! Welcome to the Luke & Ashley blog, a journal about our lives, our beautiful couples, and their stories we get to tell. Stay a while and do say hello if you please!
It has been been a month since our OCF workshop! Luke and are so ready to share this incredible experience we had with not only some amazing attendees but also some incredible vendors! Their hard work and talent made this styled workshop a success!
For the past couple of years we have hosted small little hands-on workshops that specialize in teaching photographers how to use their lighting equipment. Over the years we have learned that lighting can be intimidating to some and we have determined ourselves to teach this highly intimidating topic in a new way!
Going into 2019 we wanted to try something different. Instead of just doing something small, we wanted to elevate the experience by hosting a “styled” wedding workshop with models, reception setup, and a catered lunch to really give the workshop attendees more this year.
This venue is a highly sought out wedding venue in the heart of Williamsburg Virginia. The winery is gorgeous and the ambiance of the place brings forth a romantic vibe that makes you want to snuggle up with your sweetie with a nice red cabernet.
The thing is though, the winery can be a difficult venue to shoot in if you are not experienced with lighting. Knowing this, we really wanted to utilize this space to give a real hands-on experience for those attending the workshop.
The winery proved to be everything and more for what we were wanting. The challenge of the venue pushed the attendees to stretch themselves outside of their comfort zone and really exercise what we were teaching them.
We teach our students to think about lighting a little bit differently. Forget all the techno jumbo, we learned in the beginning that people learn the best by putting themselves into scenerios where they have to figure it out. With direction from us we walk them through these scenerios and we are constantly amazed by their talent, creative eye, and determination.
This workshop was such a success and because of this, we are looking forward to hosting another one this late summer/early fall. If you are interested in learning more, send us an email here: hello@lukeandashley.com
Once again, thank you to the vendors for their time and talent. A big thank you to Jess with Wedding Co. of Williamsburg. This girl’s vision came to life as she executed the design and coordination with all those involved. We couldn’t have done it without her!
Now here are some BTS of our workshop last month. Big thanks to our models for being the BEST couples ever! Also thank you to Emily Gibby for the Behind the scene photos and Gibby Visuals for the AMAZING promo video!
More of this incredible team at the end of this post!
Jess configured two different designs for our two different couples! I love the elegant simplicity of both of these and they reflected the winery’s beauty so well! This was all Jess and I think she did FANTASTIC!
We reached out to some of the attendees and we are LOVING the images that they shared with us!
We think this workshop was a success and we cannot wait to host another one later this year! If your interested in joining our next OCF workshop or want to do a one-on-one mentoring session then click here for more info!
Lastly, we cannot forget this epic video from Gibby Visuals! Not only do we have a promo video now for our workshop, but the whole workshop was filmed and will be put together for our OCF online course!! Say what???
Thanks Justin for all your hard work!
