Hi there! Welcome to the Luke & Ashley blog, a journal about our lives, our beautiful couples, and their stories we get to tell. Stay a while and do say hello if you please!
Thanks to the Coronavirus, more and more couples are opting for an intimate wedding rather than a big celebration. Even couples who are postponing their dates are still wanting to get officially married on their original wedding and plan to celebrate with friends and family at a later date.
This was the case with Saphir & Emily. They both had planned to get married in May with friends and family by their side. However, life had other plans and instead of sulking, these two decided to still move forward! Things would look different with their guest count being less than 10 and their friends & family tuning in through zoom from all over the world. There were some guest who were attending and it was 3am their time! That dedication says so much about these two!
The bride and groom married in the backyard of a friends house in VA Beach. The skies were gloomy and gray and luckily the owners of the house had a little covered gazebo to stand under. Their ceremony was absolutely beautiful and so touching. Filled with worship, communion, and love. Exactly everything they needed to begin their marriage.
Their talented friend decorated the mantle in the gazebo. It was absolutely gorgeous and romantic with the greenery and candlelight. Maybe this blog post can convince her friend to go into the wedding business! 😉
As soon as the wedding was over there was a little sprinkling and we might have had a mini heart attack! However, the skies cleared and we with the videographer were able to take the newlyweds out and get some incredible photos. ( We might have gotten yelled at)… but that’s another story for another time!
We seriously had such a great time. Their spunkiness and adventurous attitudes were so fun and we felt like we were hanging out with old friends.
I am honestly not sure where the wedding industry will go after COVID 19. I like to hope that we will fully recover and move on like before but I also have this doubt that there will be a new normal. It makes me sad, but at the same time if this means we get to do more fun intimate weddings like we did with Saphir and Emily then that will definitely be a highlight!
Back to the newlyweds, thank you both for trusting us with your big day! We had such an amazing time with you!
Enjoy some of our favorites from their intimate wedding!
