Hi there! Welcome to the Luke & Ashley blog, a journal about our lives, our beautiful couples, and their stories we get to tell. Stay a while and do say hello if you please!
Recently I shared our last wedding of 2018. Kyle and Lauren have been such a joy to get to know this past year. One thing that was my absolute favorite was taking Lauren’s bridal portraits at the beautiful Maymont park in Richmond VA. If you haven’t been to Maymont, I suggest you go! Me and the kids are planning a day trip there in the Spring just to explore and have a picnic. This park is such a gorgeous location and the gardens are absolutely stunning! Our favorite part of Maymont is the Japanese garden. They have these beautiful stepping stones that are in the water as well as some HUGE fish that the kids love to look at! On our next outing, we plan to visit the Maymont mansion and the nature center. We will definitely let you know how that one goes!
I will admit, I was a little sad to see the summer go. I am a summer girl through and through and the golden light that these Virginia Summers give breaths life to my soul! However, after shooting many times in the winter, I have become partial to the beautiful soft glow that only winter can give. Also, there is a plus to shooting earlier in the day!
Not every bride will have the opportunity or even desire to partake in a bridal portrait session. These take time, planning, and of course executing. However, these times with the bride are my absolute favorite. We get to have fun focusing on her as a bride without the hustle and bustle of a wedding day. It is such a special moment for the bride to soak it all in. Bridal portraits are also great for trialing hair & makeup, as well as making sure the dress fits just right. It is like a dress rehearsal before the big day!
She is effortlessly beautiful. By the time of the wedding I learned that with these these two, little coaching was needed. Letting them just be them was all that was needed! Being in front of the camera is not easy and yet Lauren makes it look like a piece of cake! I loved the classic look of her wedding dress. It was a beaded top with a full skirt attatched. The dress was an Allure bridal gown from Truly Yours Bridal.
I am going to miss Lauren as a bride, but I am so excited to watch them both build a life together. ( And, I am sure I might be calling her in the future to model for me.). 🙂
Sharing some of my favorites from her session at Maymont in Richmond. Let me know in the comments below if you enjoyed this session!
