Hi there! Welcome to the Luke & Ashley blog, a journal about our lives, our beautiful couples, and their stories we get to tell. Stay a while and do say hello if you please!
This year we have been traveling to Richmond more and more and I love discovering new and beautiful places! A couple of months ago we ventured to Maymont Park with Mark and Fatima. I shared our adventure with them on our instastories and Brielle, one of our brides was smitten with this place! She texted me right away and booked Maymont for her bridal session. I mean I couldn’t blame her, this place is a beautiful gem in the heart of Richmond. We made arrangements, booked hair and makeup, and waited for the day! I told the kids we were coming back to Maymont Park and they were thrilled! They loved this place so much and they were so excited that we were going back so soon!
Me and the kids arrived at the park a little early to scope out some new locations and just go on a little adventure of our own. It was hot and the sun was shinning down beautifully. Brielle shortly arrived afterwards with her sister and grandmother. With her hair and makeup just done she looked absolutely stunning!
The sun quickly disappeared and black clouds started rolling in. I ushered her to change quickly and we hastily made our way over to the rotunda in the Italian gardens. I was expecting the storm to pass rather quickly and figured we could stay under the covering until it passed.
The rain started coming down and at one point turned into sideways rain! We huddled around Brielle with a sheet and did our best to shield her from the wind and rain. I did my best to stay positive but in my head I was thinking what in the world were we doing out in this storm!!
An hour and 1/2 passed. We were finally able to step out and start the session. It was still sprinkling and yet Brielle was going for it. I absolutely loved her attitude and positivity. I don’t know many brides who would get in the rain BEFORE the wedding. Yet she did and we managed somehow to keep her dress free and clear of mud and puddles.
Once the rain cleared and let up we got the most beautiful light pouring in. By that time we were ready just to have fun and we did! I just adore this girl so much and I am so excited to share Jacob and Brielle’s wedding at The Chrysler Museum in Norfolk. Until then I am happily sharing these gorgeous images from our adventure together!
Thank you Brielle for just being you! LOVED this crazy day with you!

Wow, Ashley! You captured Brielle so beautifully, and who would ever realize the stormy story! Truly a day you two will share for years to come. Thanks for sharing your lovely artwork.
Thank you Betsy! Brielle is such a beauty and it was definitely an adventure! I am so glad we were able to make it work!
