Foundations.
This word has been repeated over and over in our house. When we first started our little business our foundation was built out of desperation. We were broke, we were struggling, and we needed a miracle. We begin to build our photography business based upon what we needed. We needed income and so we hustled.
This worked for a little bit. However, we soon realized that we needed outside help. We needed to look to others for guidance and advice. As soon as we began looking all this information began to pour into our lives. We were overwhelmed and excited at the same time.
Again, this worked for a little bit. Our business began to grow some more and our photography kept getting better and better each year. We were gaining momentum and what started out as something that was born out of desperation soon became a passion and love for us.
And that is when we hit a wall.
There was so much advice out there and we felt that we had to listen to it all! Our heads began to spin and we started to lose ourselves and our identity. Our why began to get lost and we found ourselves just doing this business to keep up with everyone else.
We almost gave up and threw in the towel.
And something that we teach in our Off Camera Flash workshops began to resonate in our business. Learning the foundations. In our OCF workshop, we talk about how we are there to help you learn the foundations of lighting. Once you learn the foundations you can go off and create your own style and art. But it is such a must to know the foundations of lighting.
We learned the same goes for business. It is a must to learn the foundations before you go on to grow in everything else. Otherwise, your business will have cracks and we all know a cracked foundation is no good!
This is why we have decided to host our first official Business 101 Workshop where we will go over all the basics of business. We want to help you build a strong foundation and then from there you can take off and create what you always dreamed about!
