Hi there! Welcome to the Luke & Ashley blog, a journal about our lives, our beautiful couples, and their stories we get to tell. Stay a while and do say hello if you please!
Well it is that time again….
Our year in review! This time we are in 2018 and I am in disbelief how fast this year flew by. 34 weddings and 164 portrait sessions… I guess I can see why it flew by!
One thing though…
2018 was an unforgettable year! We really stretched ourselves this year and although it was painful at times it was completely and totally worth it!
We slowed down a bit shooting wise. We branched out with some branding sessions which I have still yet to share… But no worries, they will be coming soon! Then we buckled down and dived into creating our first online educational course! This would take us 6 months to create and at times I just wanted to throw in the towel!
March
We started our wedding season off with Jason & Erika, which we couldn’t have asked a better couple to start our 2018 off right!
We were filled with engagement sessions, weddings, and more branding sessions! We also took a trip to Tucson, Arizona to see one of our 2017 couples! Adam & Emily were having a baby and we were able to do their maternity session!
What a blur! Between weddings, engagment sessions, we were able to take some time with the kids and enjoy some pool fun and more! Oh and we launched our first course! It was a soft launch but this year we will be focusing on a live launch with it.
Our destination wedding in Mexico! Four days of fun and what seemed more like relaxation than work! We then also took a family trip to the OBX with Luke’s parents. It was a nice break before we transitioned into our fall wedding season!
Between weddings and engagement sessions, we decided to offer mini sessions. This was a HUGE success. We booked 25 sessions and it was fun to be able to knock them out one after the other. We did learn a lesson though… When planning these things we need to take in account the time change. We completley forgot all about it and had to move some people around. Thankfully everyone was flexible and it worked out!
Luke and I also launched our 2nd course and we have recieved some amazing reviews from it so far. We even did a 5 day challenge and that was a hit! Both of us are excited to do it again in the new year and cannot wait to tweak and better the course for our audience.
We ended the year with an incredible couple in Williamsburg and it was the perfect ending to our season.
Before I dive into pictures, I just need to give a BIG shoutout to the Beasley kids.
We started this business shooting right after my youngest was born. I remember showing up to sessions with a preschooler, toddler, and newborn strapped to my chest. It wasn’t easy, but we make it work. Our couples have always been gracious to us and now that they are older we just have this flow that works. These kids have been all over Hampton Roads, almost at every normal session we shoot, and they ALWAYS have such great attitudes. They love to help find all the things for ring shots, hold babies, and love on our couples fur babies. They explore, climb trees, and play while we shoot. We are so blessed we get to do this with them and after 7 1/2 years we have found our groove! Love these humans so much!
And now us at work…
We got to ring the bell at Bruton Parish in Williamsburg!
Photobomb!
Excuse the iphone pic… But gave our cameras to Mark & Fatima for some fun. Their pictures were blurry…but they sure do look the part! Best dressed photographers out there!
These veils don’t fluff themselves!
Sitting on the job… ( Also loved Erika one of our brides joining us on a wedding!)
Bossing the bridal party around…
Thank you Erika for these!
Light Test Time!
Luke takes his job pretty seriously!
So incredibly grateful to Casey & Ashley for inviting us to capture their Mexico wedding! Best destination wedding EVER!
Before we got a little sea sick…
This year we did a last minute backyard wedding and the kids were invited along… This was an incredible memory for them. They loved every minute of it!
We worked with some incredible people this year!
Learned not to get in Gibby Visual’s Shot!
Trying to convince Kate to let me be one of her bridesmaids
Love this couple soooo much! Thanks for inviting us to Arizona again!
Ending our last wedding of 2018 with a dance. Love that we get to do this together!
And this pretty much sums up our year! We handed our camera to Mark & Carly for some fun and they captured our family perfectly!
Thank you to all our incredible couples! We are honored to be apart of your lives during this special time and it was because of you that 2018 was absolutely AMAZING!
